God’s promise is that rivers of living water would burst forth from our innermost being. We don’t always experience this abundance of living water. We are often dry with barren wells. We ignore the yearning & beckoning of the Holy Spirit only to continue in our own weariness. If this has been you it’s time to unplug the stopper in our hearts.

You don’t need others to agree with you in order to access the presence of God. God wants ALL of us not just the morsel of weak praise we give Him. So many of us are dumbing down our lives in order to fit into this world when He’s called us to be change agents. We can’t change the culture if we long to be like them.

Let our hearts cry be:

I want the depths of God
I want the mercy of God
I want the righteousness of God
I want the abundance of God’s love
I want the manifest presence of God in this dying world
I want the thirst of God

Let us build our foundation on the Rock so that when all else fails we will stand (‭Luke‬ ‭6‬:‭48-49, Ephesians 6:10-18‬ NASB)! Let us become thirsty for Jesus, our thirst for this world will only leave us dry.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. (‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭6-8‬ NASB)

No Mediocre

shutterstock_996054441

Lately I’ve been extremely observant of how people respond to the blessings of God.

What has popped in my head is the hook of TI’s song “No mediocre”. The actual song is anything but amazing however; the concept when placed in the hands of the Lord is revolutionary.

God doesn’t want mediocrity from us. I’ve seen so many people settle at the mountain top simply to look at the view. The mountain top isn’t the only benefit of the mountain. Inside of the mountain are rivers, animals, food, gold, diamonds etc. What do we do with the opportunities God gives? Do we simply look at them like a diamond engagement ring or do we grab hold of what He’s doing? I know I’ve lived in a deep underlying fear over the last 8 years waiting to see the top of the mountain instead of seeing the resources of the mountain available to me NOW.

How about you? What are you afraid of? Are we waiting around for the opportunity when it has already arrived? Are we lost in what we think it will look like? Are we living in false humility denying our God empowered gifting the ability to be developed, fine tuned and expanded?

The definition of mediocre is: of only ordinary or moderate quality; neither good nor bad; barely adequate.

It doesn’t mean that you don’t do anything or that you aren’t attempting but that you have failed to fulfill your potential ability. Instead of settling for the mountain top let’s dig into the mountain and discover the true economy of God. It’s greater than what we have been expecting or desiring to see.

Kierra Sheard- Graceland

GracelandPromoWeb2

Since I am relaunching my blog I thought it would be appropriate to do a music review. In the past I would write long articles regarding my thoughts surrounding the artist development, production, content and presentation.

In many ways this is beneficial to the general audience because they are able to decide based on your review if they will buy or listen to the album. After much consideration I will be keeping it short. One of my personality traits is that I will not personally share music with people unless I like it or it’s just terrible in my opinion.

With that said here are some of my thoughts on Kierra’s Sheard’s Graceland album.

1. I am a Kiki fan. I am bias.
2. I absolutely love the content. It is encouraging! Kiki is transparent in her desire to see herself as God sees her.
3. The production is a bit trippy. I am all for innovation but there is so much experimentation that the general flow of the album gets thrown off.
4. J Drew should really relax with his alibis. He said, “Twerk” in the Balm and Gilead among other unnecessary alibis. It is unacceptable for a gospel album. I am still one who regards the things of God as holy. The world shouldn’t be brought into the church like that.
5. I realize to understand the entire album you have to listen to it straight through multiple times.
6. Favorite tracks: Moving Forward, Kill the Dragon, No Graceland. If I was a 20 something single still Flaws would probably be a favorite for me.
6. If you are a Kiki fan and your more conservative I would suggest skipping to track 4 and ignoring the first 3 in order to enjoy the album
7. Using the catalog of The Clark Sister’s was beautiful. You should definitely go back and listen to the original recordings and live recordings

Here is some footage of The Clark Sister’s: One thing that shows in this video is the passion was SO INTENSE! My prayer is that we as a global church would get back to bold passion for Jesus. Be encouraged all!

Lost Hope

hope-hands1We’re  all confused and looking for a way out of that confusion. We see the glitz and the glamour and we want it. We desire to have the “freedom” that our favorite stars have. We firmly believe that some how if we were more creative than our lives would be better. If we were better at our craft we would get noticed and be able to make a living that our families would be proud of. However, the truth is it’s all a LIE. We are obsessed with being seen and receiving attention. Our stars are as lonely and afraid as we are. The deal won’t make our lives better. The salary won’t fix the lost hope in our hearts. The disappointment won’t fade away.

I speak to people on a daily bases that are blinded by their own desires. The grind allows us to keep busy so we don’t see our desperate need for love. I remember when I was in college I was able to keep it moving. I was the mover and pusher but the more I moved and pushed the more my own emptiness surfaced. Are you empty? Are you running from you? Are you willing to see yourself for who you are? Lost, lonely, hopeless, in need of more than success. Are you tired of running? Our hope is found in Jesus alone. The temporary fixes that this world brings can’t compare to the love, joy and peace that is found in Christ alone. Instead of running away from Him try running to Him for in Him hope is found. You don’t have to be hopeless.

Only one thing is impossible for God: To find any sense in any copyright law on the planet.
